Can I get help if I'm struggling financially?

The York St John Student Support Fund is available to all students who are struggling financially and intends to alleviate unexpected financial hardship.  The fund is not guaranteed but you can apply as long as you have taken out the full funding available to you.  The fund provides discretionary financial assistance to support you remaining in higher education, particularly if you need financial help to meet extra costs that cannot be met from other sources of support.

The Student Support Fund guidelines and application form can be found on the YSJ website.  When applying please ensure that you use exact figures as these will be used in your initial assessment.  The fund primarily looks at your income for the coming year against your outgoings, but you also need to complete a section on why you are applying to the fund, providing more in depth detail about your financial situation.

Once submitted, the Student Funding Advice Team will complete an initial assessment on you which will determine whether you are due an award. If you are, you will then be emailed to request you to upload your evidence. The evidence that you will be required to provide will be confirmation of any funding you are in receipt of, evidence of rent/mortgage e.g. tenancy agreement/mortgage statement, the last three months bank statements plus any other evidence for any income or expenditure you have stated on your application.
