How do I make my own way to York?

If you are flying into to an airport other than Manchester, or on a date were there are no York St John coach collections available, you can make your own way to the University either by train or by coach.  Below is some useful information on the transport from some other UK airports.


Arrival Airport

Manchester
The train station at Manchester airport is located at Terminal 2.  You can get trains direct to York which leave every hour and the journey takes approximately two hours.
You can get a coach from Manchester Airport to York which takes approximately 4 hours.  This involves a change at Leeds and the coach drop off in York is at the train station.
Leeds Bradford
There is no train direct from Leeds Bradford to York.  A bus operates from Leeds Bradford Airport to Leeds Station and then a train operates to York Station.  The total journey time is approximately 1 hours 42 minutes. 
Coaches from Leeds Bradford airport require you to change at Leeds and take approximately 2 hours.
Heathrow
Once you have arrived at London Heathrow, you will need to take a bus, taxi, or the underground to Kings Cross railway station.  From there you can travel by train to York.  The total journey from Heathrow Airport to York will take approximately 4 hours. 
Coaches from Heathrow involve a change usually in central London or in Leeds and can take anywhere between 7-10 hours.
