FAQ 257
I can't see the correct modules on Moodle. How do I get these updated?

There are a number of different reasons why you might not be able to see the correct modules on Moodle:

  • Have you enrolled on the correct modules at the start of the semester?  The system updates at midday and midnight, so a recent module change might not have updated yet.  If the modules don't show after 24 hours contact Student Records (studentrecords@yorksj.ac.uk) to ensure that you have enrolled onto the correct modules.
  • Some courses (such as summer pre-sessional courses) use manual registration where the tutor enrols you onto the module.  If these modules are not showing then you will need to contact your relevant School office.
  • It’s also possible that the tutor hasn’t setup the module yet, is still working on it and it is hidden (very common at the start of each semester) or that they are making updates to it.  In these instances you will need to contact the module tutor directly to find out when the course will be showing again on Moodle.
  • You may also have accidentally hidden the course yourself by clicking on the eye symbol next to each course title on the dashboard page.  Click on 'show / hide' at the bottom of this page to show all courses.
  • Finally, are you logging in with your YSJ username and password?  Some students create temporary pre-arrival accounts and forget to switch to their YSJ one when they arrive.
