How do I pay my tuition fees?

You will be presented with a list of payment options during the enrolment process at the start of each academic year and you should expect to pay fees for every year that you are in attendance.

 

UK & EU Students

Tuition Fee Loan

If you have applied for a Tuition Fee Loan, Student Finance England (or other relevant Student Loan Company agency) will inform the University of the amount of the loan you have applied for and you will be shown at enrolment the outstanding balance you have to pay.  If the University has not yet been informed of your loan at the time of your enrolment, select the option 'I have applied for a Tuition Fee Loan from SFE/SAAS', and this will enable you to complete your enrolment process.

Payment By Card In FullYou can make a secure payment by either debit card or credit card to complete your enrolment process.
Payment By Card In Instalments 

Providing your card details to Finance will enable us to make the first payment immediately and the second payment in the future automatically.

Cheque

Payments by cheque can be made either in person at the Finance Office or by post .  Please make cheques payable to York St John University and ensure that you include both your student ID number and student name on the back of the cheque so that we can credit the payment to the correct account.  Your enrolment status will be "pending" until we receive your cheque.

Cash

Payments by cash can only be made under special circumstances.  If you are paying by cash, your enrolment status will be "pending" until we receive your monies.  If you would like to arrange to pay by cash, please contact the Finance Department.

We may carry out additional checks in order to comply with Government anti-money laundering legislation. You may be asked to provide bank statements and international students will have to provide their UK Customs cash declaration form (required for more than €15,000 or the equivalent in other currencies is brought into the UK).

SponsorIf an organisation is paying some or all of your tuition fees you are required to provide the details of the organisation before your enrolment can be completed.


International Students

A deposit payment will need to be made in order for your offer to be made unconditional and your CAS to be issued, allowing you to apply for a UK Tier 4 Visa.  The precise amount of money you need to pay at this stage will be detailed in your conditional offer e-mail.

The deposit is not required for sponsored students, students paying their fees through the Norwegian State Loans or through US Student Loans. 

International Bank TransferIf you wish to pay via our Western Union Payment System then please follow the instructions on our Western Union Payment page. 
Online Payment SystemIf you wish to pay via our Online Payment System then please follow the instructions on our Online Payment page. 
Bank Transfer

If you wish to pay by bankers draft, this can be made out to York St John University and sent or taken to the Finance Office.  Alternatively, you can transfer it directly to the University bank account.  If you choose this option, please include your 9 digit student ID number which can be found on your offer letter.  The full bank details can be found on our website.

Sponsored Students

You are classed as a financially sponsored student if you are sponsored by one of the following:

  • Your Home Government
  • The British Council or any other international organisation, company or University

US Student Loans

All applicants paying their fees through US Student Loans must send official notification of the loan to the International Office. 

Norwegian State LoansAll applicants paying their fees through Norwegian State Loans must send the "Preliminary Statement of Financial Support" to the International Office.
